BANKING & STUDENT ID CARD (DEBIT CARD)
There are 5 ATMs on campus.
If ATMs on campus are not working, you may visit bank in downtown where takes 10 minutes by shuttle bus.
KOREAN BANK ACCOUNT &
STUDENT ID CARD
Our Student ID card will be issued by the Korean bank (Industrial Bank of Korea)
and it can be used as a debit card.
During orientation, OIA helps student to make Korean bank account (Student ID card).
However it will be issued after your Alien Registration Card (ARC) is issued.
To be clear, it takes 2 weeks to issue ARC, and then take another 1~2 weeks to issue
Korean bank account (Student ID card). So after 3~4weeks, your Korean bank account
and Student ID card will be issued.
STUDENT ID CARD
You will need the school ID card for various things in campus.
Ex) purchasing meals, paying for school shuttle bus, entering a dorm…
*It will be issued during 4th weeks after semester starts
School provides free WIFI for mobile and laptops.
You can log in to the WIFI(HGU WLAN) with your ID number and school account password(HisNET).
All information (ID number and password) will be provide before you come to HGU.
If you want to buy data or have Korean mobile number,
you can visit any mobile stores in downtown (takes 10mins from school) and
buy USIM chip. The prices vary from the plan you choose for using.
Students usually buy 'Prepaid USIM chip' with 50,000KRW for a semester ($50)

The HGU campus is also only thirty minutes away from Gyeongju, the ancient capital of Silla Dynasty, where its splendid culture and architecture still exist.
Major cities such as Seoul, Busan, and Daegu are easily accessible by public transportation including high-speed train at affordable costs.

Our school provides round trip-school shuttle bus to the downtowns.
- Fare: 800won per trip
- Route : School - (10mins) - Downtown - (10mins) - Beach - (10mins) - Downtown

Kakao Talk is a widely used messenger app in Korea. Korean people use this application more than phone messages. You will be using this application very frequently while being in Korea.
You will be able to get variety of school information such as class information, personal information, bus schedule, food court menu, etc., in addition to being able charge your student ID card to pay for school bus fees.
Logging in using the Kakaotalk ID is available and it is very helpful to call taxis and type your destination even if you do not speak any Korean. You will need to ride taxi often to KTX train stations and more on.
Logging in using the Kakaotalk ID is available and although Google map might be easier for you to use in the beginning, this app will be more efficient once you get used to it as it provides a more accurate information.
